Building a More Equitable Cannabis Industry

Brands Development | Diversity & Inclusion | Business Development | Policy & Labor

JustKind is a Black-owned cannabis consulting firm with two main areas of specialization:

  1. Focusing on supporting social equity, BIPOC, and women-owned cannabis companies with investor fundraising, brand/business development, and licensing.

  2. Working collaboratively with corporate cannabis partners to increase internal diversity & inclusion, social equity business planning, labor union engagement, and governmental relations.

Our Successes

  • Cannabis Policy & Labor

Negotiated over 5 UFCW and Teamsters contracts for drivers and dispensary workers for Eaze

Provided cannabis policy testimony in five states, and over two dozen localities to assist the passage of legislation that has codify cannabis delivery and created social equity programs

Key representative on the U.S. Cannabis Council (USCC), California Cannabis Industry Association, and Cannabis for Black Lives helping to craft standard industry policies

  • Diversity & Inclusions

Established a California wide belonging and wellness plan to listen to and provide solution for over 1200 dispensary workers; and setting up employee resource groups (ERGs) at over 24 companies

Created several large-scale cannabis BIPOC programs for internal and external partners including “Black & Cannabis Networking” and a cannabis industry annual activation that secured over $100,000 for LGBTQIA nonprofits

Established a business integration program for BIPOC and women-owned suppliers

  • Social Equity Business Growth

Developed the nation’s first social equity brands program to earn over $15 million in GTV

Increased BIPOC product sales from $300,000 in 2019 to $6.5 million by 2021

Mentored BIPOC cannabis companies through the Eaze Momentum business accelerator, providing $1.5 million in grants over three years

“BIPOC cannabis companies have been economically excluded from actual success — not a lack of great ideas, great product, or hardworking founders — that is a main reason these companies have not grow. However through my work at the largest cannabis retailor in California BIPOC & social equity companies’ sales increased by 300-700% year over year creating a win win for the retailer and the brand.
